About Our Transplants

At Poplar Wood Farm in Port Murray, NJ we grow our transplants to provide gardeners with a local source of unique varieties that are organically grown. This enables those that don’t have the time, space or expertise to raise these special varieties from seed, the opportunity to grow them in their garden.

Our plants are grown without chemical herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers. The plants you receive are grown using non-treated, non-gmo seed and whenever possible certified organic seed. The plants are grown in 4 inch biodegradable coir pots with a Organic Material Review Institute approved soilless mix and fed with sea based fertilizers and compost. Insect pests are controlled by using beneficial insects.

The majority of the plant varieties listed are heirlooms, many tracing their heritage back to the lands of our ancestors. These treasures have been passed down through generations of gardeners who have selected their favorites and shared them with us. Please note that there are also more recent introductions that are included in our mix.
